Introduced by YouTube Process Maestro Channel.

I received a filming request from an Australian creator.
It was a difficult request to film all the steps in making one fountain pen.
I was going to politely decline, but gradually I felt comfortable and was drawn to the idea.
If the barrel is made of celluloid, there are fewer drying steps and the total number of steps is the smallest,
so I thought it might be possible, so I took on the challenge.
(Usually, 8 to 10 pens are made at the same time, and it takes about a month to make them.)
I holed myself up in the workshop, and went through all the steps in a total of about 16 hours over two days,
and successfully filmed the whole thing. Thanks to the creator’s sharp perspective, artistic sense, and passion,
I was able to work very comfortably.
I think this is a video work that is completed like a concerto between the creator and me.
I received a happy message from the creator saying,
“Ryo, there were many parts that I couldn’t throw away,so it turned out to be a long 30-minute work.”
I hope you will watch it when you have the time.
With gratitude for everything.
